संस्कृत मानक देवनागरी में श् + ऋ = शृ होता है। संयुक्त वर्ण "श्र" में पहले से "र" समाहित होता है (श् + र = श्र), अतः "श्र" में पुनः "ऋ" लगाने पर "श्रृ" बन जाता है जो दोहरा र-दोष है। शुद्ध मानक रूप केवल "शृंगार" (रसराज) है।
